What capacity can a grab lorry hold?

Grab lorries weigh around 16 tonnes when empty, the typical weight allowed is double that – 32 tonnes. This is between 12 and 15 cubic metres, but can vary depending on the material type.

How big is a grab lorry?

Typically, grab lorries are roughly 9ft wide and 22ft long, it is important all access points have the required clearance.

What materials can a grab lorry collect?

A grab lorry is usually hired to remove large quantities of concrete, hardcore or soil but can be used to carry any type of waste.

How far can a grab lorry reach?

Up to 8 metres. Providing the grab can be correctly positioned, it also has the ability to grab waste from over a fence or wall up to a max of 1 tonne a time.

Where is the best place to leave waste to be collected?

For an efficient removal, waste is best kept in an open space, away from cables or trees, and as near to the grab lorry access point as possible.

How long does it take to load up waste?

Providing waste is in one accessible area, it will take around 20 minutes to remove and load on to the grab lorry.

How much does it cost to hire a grab lorry?
