Q. What can I put in my skip?

A.  Skips are generally used for the removal of non-hazardous waste such as building debris, household items and green waste etc. For hazardous waste or for waste types you are unsure of, contact the team.

Q. How much is a skip?

A. It depends on size, type and location; we work with accredited sub-contractors nationwide, we will get you the best possible price with your requirements. Give us a call and we will guide you.

Q. What is included in the cost of Skip Hire?

A. Depending on your waste requirements you will either be given a cost upfront of sometimes skips are charged according to weight on collection. For example: if waste includes heavier items like mattresses, carpets, fridges etc.

Q. What are wait and load skips?

A. A wait and load skip service is an option for those who have limited space to house a skip for a number of weeks. It involves a skip lorry waiting outside your home while you load your waste into it. Once you’re done, the lorry will simply take your waste away. It’s important with a wait and load service that you already have your waste bagged up and ready to go.

Q. How long can I have a skip for?

A. Duration depends on the company used, for example; some companies only allow hire for a period of 7 to 14 days. Most companies will chase if a skip has been on site for a month or two.

Q What do I do when I have finished using it?

A. Give us a call to arrange collection when you have finished.

Q. Can I mix the waste?

A. Generally, the more you can separate out waste types the better.

Q Is the waste recycled?

A. Recycling rates vary from company to company. Skip UK always ensure as much waste as possible is recycled.

Q. How much can I put in the skip?

A. Skips should only be filled up to a ‘fill line’. Some skips might have these at the top of the skip, others may be two thirds from the top if filled with materials such as soil.

Q. What access do I need to provide?

A. Please make sure that there is sufficient access on site, to allow the vehicle it in and out safely. If you are unsure, please contact us and we can provide you with the approximate dimensions required.

Q. Do you need to have a licence to have a skip?

A. Skip UK only work with accredited and insured sub-contractors nationwide. As well as this we are fully licenced by the Environment Agency and hold all appropriate insurances. If a skip is going to be located on a public highway it will also need a licence.

Q. How do I stop fly tipping in a skip?

A. If you are concerned about fly tipping, we can recommend a secure enclosed skip to stop unauthorised entry or a wait and load or man in a van service.
